I'm just wondering why our 50th Reunion has to be held so far away from where we graduated.  Surely there were plenty of places, throughout northern Orange County that would have been just as nice, and not been outside.  And why is the "early bird" registration only through February?

I'm going to have to give a lot of thought as to whether or not I really want to go out that far now.

Hi, Bekkie,

I appreciate your comments and wanted to respond right away.  FIRST, I hope the So. County location won't keep you away!!  The Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club is a beautiful location for an early Southern California Fall evening outdoor event (while the weather is 99% predictable to be WONDERFUL!) and they are providing us with great extras, set-up, amenities and buffet choices at a very reasonable rate.  We looked at nearly a dozen places throughout the county and this one was a standout in lots of ways.  We hope it will provide a beautfiul backdrop to a very special evening.

I also just wanted to explain that the purpose of an "early bird" price is to encourage folks to commit early, which will, in turn, encourage others to come so we have a great turnout AND to provide funding for expenses that we are already incurring and expect to have to cover early on (deposits, decor, entertainment, etc.). (Right now folks on the committee are dipping into their own pockets and will need to be reimbursed.) We are also offering refunds through, I think, July, if people have to back out later.

Anyway,  I hope this explanation helps - we would miss you if you don't make it, so PLEASE come!

Thanks, on behalf of the volunteer committee,

Sue MacKinnon Zieg

it’s with great sadness I’m writing to inform those that don’t already know that we lost our good friend Loren Thornton on Nov 2, 2018. He hadn’t been sick but went into the hospital and stayed there 9 weeks. He loved coming to every SHS event and will surely be missed.

I just read the message this morning about Loren Thornton, and my heart sank.  I have great memories with Loren. I will always remember singing in the outfield during baseball practice and out on a Friday Night driving your folks GTO.  May you rest in peace my friend.

Today on Facebook I read that another classmate has died. Ken Schmidt died in Sept of liver cancer.

About a week ago I got a text saying David White also recently died.

Dear Lord watch over us all and keep our brothers in your grace.

Did I miss a message somewhere, telling us where to send our money for the class reunion?

Hi, Bekkie and ALL:

So excited to report that I am working the kinks out with the website company to post the ticket and reservation information today or tomorrow - A mass email will go out, but I hope everyone is ready to take the plunge and buy their tickets right away!!  Remember that getting your tickets early will encourage others to do the same and build the anticipation for a great evening and support us in knowing our budget and what extras we will be able to provide.  And we will be able to offer a refund policy if things change downline.

HELP US SPREAD THE WORD and STAY TUNED!!!

Thanks, Your Reunion Committee

Hello to you all!  So very happy to see the excitement building for our 50th Reunion,  The committee is working so very hard to plan a special and memorable evening for us all! Watch for a post, Home Page, above 45th Party photos, for details on purchasing your ticket.  Don’t be the one saying, “I can’t believe I missed the fun”, be the one saying, “I am so happy I was a part of the fun”!   See you on September 7, 2019!

Is the photo booth one of those where you sit and get a strip of pictures?? I USED to enjoy those when I was younger and going to amusement parks or fairs.  Seems we could at least have a better picture taken to commenorate this occassion.

I have the date inked in my calendar.  I will be in the midst of moving to Arizona during that time so I will have to hold off before I buy my ticket.  At least, I will be closer to Orange County after I move.  I attended the 40th and I had a great time.  I'm looking forward to the 50th.

I think the venue in Mission Viejo will be a great setting for the reunion.
