In my minds eye I see this something like the Beach thing, but NOT a picnic.  I see it in the latter part of the afternoon so we can have the party Under The Stars.  We have a handful of musicians in our group, wouldn't it be cool to be somewhere that we can sit around and sing / listen / jam....at some point in the evening.  I had tried to get info on the Fire Pits at Chico but the pits are all going away.  Doheny, Dana Point, New Port Dunes...those may be fun and hassle free.  Water for those that what to partake, grass or sand, so DC won't get sand where he doesn't want it, cater in the BBQ type food, bring some music w/ good enough speakers to let everyone hear, find a location where picnic benches and tables are stationary~~that way no one needs to bring chairs or blankets to sit on.  We can make a Costco run for snacks and desserts to keep cost down.  If alcohol is allowed we'll buy from a FEE charged to all of us.

If this doesn't sound good, we're all had GREAT times and they work with us very well at Original Mikes.  That patio area is beautiful and the band stand  close by for music.  That's just a thought.

Wheels are turning.  Love hearing suggestions.  We'll discuss ALL ideas when we have our meeting, so thanks everyone!

If I remember correctly, all the beaches have a "curfew" - and if you're going to have something at any of the state beaches, you have to pay a "fee" to be allowed to have alcohol, otherwise, you can't just bring your own.

I like the beach idea, but prefer the idea of the grassy area, because I can't walk on sand (water yes, sand no j/k). I'm not sure about having music, Doheny does not allow any kind of amplified sound, of any kind.  Here's the site where you can find the info on Doheny. . . .

Looks like music is allowed at Doheny, but unfortunately not amplied.  Dennis' band wouldn't be able to play, but those who have acoustic guitars could jam.

Pam, that's what I meant by 'sit around and JAM'....  :/    hahaha.  You should be blonde again :)

Who all is coming to El Torito on Oct 4th?  Spread the word.  Remember, it's a SAVANNA party started by our ALUM of '64.  Not up to US to include MANY from other schools, unless they already know most of the SHS group or it's your date.  June is here  and it'll be Oct in a blink of an eye.  Email your friends and let's rally up a big group.

Chat more later,  Chris

I'm planning to be at El Torito in Oct, the desert is way too hot for me in summer (beautiful place Chris), not sure about a resort -  i might be too much of an old hippie wearing levis... like the beach/grass thing, wouldn't mind rooms somewhere, Original Mikes was fun, but hard to talk sometimes... looking forward to getting together no matter where we end up! St George sounds good too Loren!  We could get a caravan going! lol! Take care everyone! kathie

ps: I like Cathy's idea of a like button, And great to see Dennis Reed here...

Just a reminder to you all.  The ANNUAL El Torito Happy Hour is coming up.  First Friday of every Oct.  Weir Canyon and 91 Frwy starting around 5.  Side patio, Buy your own everything, No head counts, No organization....just SHOW UP and EAT and catch up with your old REBELS!   Who's gonna make it again THIS year???  Please WEIGH in and let us all know you're coming so we can get excited about seeing you :).  I'll be posting reminders along the way.  It's so fun and our ALUM of '69 has been growing, in fact I think we're the highest attendance.  About 70 people usually show.  HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN and nudge your buds from school to join you this time.

See you soon,   Chris Cummings

Just today, I got back from that 15 day cruise to Hawaii - beautiful, even if we had bad weather all the way around (except in Kona where it was hot and muggy).  Have to spend the next few days doing laundry and getting back into the swing of things now.

Anybody out there?????    I haven't seen any new comments in awhile!  FOR NOW~~~ this is the latest news about our 45th reunion.  We have a DATE to be confirmed,  for Saturday Sept 6th at Original Mikes.  Everyone seemed to really love that venue for our 60th gathering AND for Dave Stowes memorial.  Dennis Eiche is checking the date with the band and if all goes well we'll have the patio again and Cappys Band will be playing.  MORE TO COME!!!!!  Hope you all look forward and save this date.

See you in a few months!

Chris

Thanks, Chrissi,

I check here once in a while!  Were you really up at 2:50am writing this note.  So glad you have chosen Sept. for the 45th reunion.  I will touch base with Janet and a few others once we get the date secured. Hope it works out that Dennis' band can be there too!

Thanks for all your work!

Alison
