Marina you need to work on getting a reunion for YOUR high school.  Has Anaheim had them regularly?  Now that you've connected w/ many of your AHS peeps...get on that committee.  They should have a 45th too.  Although I'm not even sure we will.    Just trying to gather info.  I really like the BEACH idea Becky.  I wanted to look into a Bond Fire type party for our last one but most beaches make you close up at 10 and NO BOOZE.  Maybe Doheny is different.  Of the Back bay in Dana Point area.  Chico was the one I was interested in.

If you go to this site - http://www.dohenystatebeach.org - then go down to the bottom, you can find all sorts of information on having picnics at Doheny, and what the requirements are - including having alcohol.  There is a fee required - and the amount depends on which picnic area you use.

In picnic areas A and B, they're big enough for 100-500 people; and do have a fire ring.  They close at 10pm, which seems to be the norm anymore on any of the area beaches - not like when we were growing up.  They also have a particular company that they use exclusively (BBQ Express), and that information is also on this website.

Looked up Bolsa Chica State Beach, and they have stricter requirements - including a monitor (who has to come in on their day off, dress in uniform and use an official car) who has to be there 30 minutes before and after the event.  Again, here's the website for Bolsa Chica - http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=24143 - to see all their rules and regulations.

But at Doheny, the 2 large picnic areas are grassy areas, and we were smelling the bbq and the ocean.  It wasn't all that offensive, and we were never in the sand,  until the guys started their volleyball game.

No idea why we worrying about a little sand. By 10:00 most of us are ready for bed or already in it asleep. We could have it out here in Utah. You know there are two of us living out here. We have the desert, mountains, lakes and it is such a short drive for everyone else. If anyone can throw this together Chris can. GOOD LUCK!!!

If we could pull off the Doheny Park thing...and get rates and info for a nearby Hotel...then at 10 when they kick us out we can go to the Bar at the Hotel and continue there.  Everyone that wanted to stay in town could room there and we could do the next morning breakfast, like we did at The Ayres.  That was fun seeing everyone again in the morning.  Maybe we could put the work out and see if anyone has a Camper or Motor Home to hook up at the Camp Site.  That way some could just STAY there.  I like it!!!  NO SAND in your trunks, DC...although we all know you like to be seen with your shirt off :)

FYI - their camp ground gets pretty full during the summer months.  We'd have to have a definite date so people could make reservations as soon as possible.  I might even convince my brother in law to take their RV for the weekend!!

We're talking 2014 so hopefully we'd have time to plan.  Just brainstorming for now...UNLESS we just wanna DO IT and not call it a reunion :)

You are too funny Loren! I agree with casual and we do need to have somewhere to sleep if we drink... no DUI's! Must be nice to live so close to the beach DC... I'm up for just about anything except the desert, too hot for me...

Take care everyone...

Hard to believe we're almost HALF WAY through the year.  I remember when we were in High School and the summers seemed to last FOREVER!  Beach everyday at Life Guard 17, not a care in the world.  This means our annual Happy Hour at El Torito is only about 4 months away.  Anyone wanting additional info pop on here and leave us a message.  John Hosea I know you're looking for a HILTON, I'll check it out and get back to you.  It's OCT 4th at the ET in Yorba Linda right at the 91 frwy and WEIR Canyon Rd.  You can see it from the Freeway.  We all meet up at the Patio anytime after 4:30.  Everything is BYO so there's no pressure, no collecting, no head count.  This group is GROWING each year with us 69ers.  There's groups from '63, 64, 65, 66...on down to about '71.  Some are chatting about getting rooms and there's an AYRES Hotel in the same parking lot if anyone is interested.  I'll be nudging y'all again soon!  Have a wonderful week and LONG weekend next weekend.

Chris

Hey everybody, does anyone recognize two of our classmates in this picture with Bob Dylan?

Alison Holt (Meyers)

Think I see two I remember in your pic Loren?  As for the reunion, I like the beach idea and another thought is Chris Walthall's place in Indian Wells.  He says he can get several of his neighbors to help with some guset houses (including his own).  He lives in Tuscany where Melissa Diaz works.  He said he is willing to help get discounts at surrounding hotels.  The place is incredible and he is willing to set up food and drinks and give a cost.   He is thinking he can keep the cost down.  There is a golf course, tennis courts, work out room and a spa too.  The scenary is absolutely beautiful.  At certain times they have block party events and his thought was Friday night block party, Saturday night reunion.  We could easily do breakfast Sunday morning too!  There is an airport in Palm Springs for those coming in from far away and it took me about an hour and half to drive out there. It is closer than the beach for our friends in San Jacinto, Arizonia and Utah.  Ontario airport is about an hour and ten minutes.  I was there in October two weeks before they opened for the winter season.  They were re-doing the grass on the course!   The reunion could be held in the aera in the pictures.  The pool is in Chris' back yard.

Going to a resort isn't my idea of a good time, because I neither golf or tennis,or the spa thing.  From San Jacinto, it's an hour drive to the Palm Springs area; to O.C. it's probably an hour and a half, so the drive is nothing either way.

On a more fun note - I'm going on a 15 day cruise to Hawaii (out of LA) in November!

Hey Loren,

It looks like Bob Donaghue in the back and Andy Bielanski to the right of Bob Dylan.  Am I right?

I'd be interested in a very casual 45th reunion too.  Dana Point sounds pretty good.  Dennis is very close to Dana Point, so that would work well for us.

Have we decided what month we are planning to have it in 2014?  Kathy and Rick Zeizer will be in Europe for a couple years, so they will probably miss it.  Are Sharon and Scott still doing their thing in Cap Cod every summer?

Chris Cummings (Noel)

When Kathy finally gets out of town it may only be for 3 months up to 9 months.  We need to have a meeting this summer.  I'll gather up the usual suspects :)

Alison Holt (Meyers)

I am willing to help no matter where we decide.  Chris really wanted me to put the idea out there.  Same distance for me either way!

Thanks Chrissi!

At Pam, not Bob D. but Andy B. is right. Chris's place sounds good to me. I have not been out there in a very long time.

I'm willing to help any way I can, as well.  When I was at EarthLink, I planned many a big event for different departments - including a big beach party for the Software Development Dept at Doheny Beach.  It was a beautiful day (we had it in September), and a great time was had by all.

The caterer that they have for events at Doheny was really good, and the food was great.

Oh brother! Since you all want to have the get together close to YOU so you don't have to drive far... How's about having a party once a month at all your houses?? Bahahaha

That sounds good to me Cathy. First one here in St George, Utah. That way I can't complain about the drive. Hahaha smiley
