After graduating from Savanna I went to UCI and got a degree in Chemistry. Tried to get in to medical school but didn't make it. Didn't want to be a chemist, so hung around UCI and got a degree in computer science. Went to work for a small company (I was the 4th employee) doing software for small businesses.
After 4 or 5 years, tried to get in to medical school again and made it this time. Graduated from UCSD School of Medicine in 1983. During my internship one of my medical school instructors asked if I'd like to join a company he was forming to do medical software.
So I never did practice medicine but went back to computers. I've been doing medical software since 1985.
In 1980 I married Betsy, whom I'd met while at UCI. While I was going to medical school in San Diego, Betsy was at the vet school at UC Davis. So we had a long distance relationship for a while.
We've been in Arizona for about 24 years, first in Tempe, then 22 years in Mesa, and just bought a house in Chandler this year.
When not working, we are active in our church and also in a marriage support group called Marriage Encounter. About 15 years ago I took up golf and am now a certified golf nut. I play almost every weekend (yes, even in the summer when it is 110 degrees).
