Andy Armstrong

Bon Jour Mon Ami,

Here I am in Paris!! It is a little chilly (between 55 and 65), and the security is nuts, but Paris is Paris!! I want to thank everyone for a great time at El Torrito on Friday night. After I got to the correct ET it was a great time. It was nice seeing old friends and meeting new ones from the other classes. This really is a great idea. Sorry I disappeared without saying goodbye, but I had to take care of an emergency after a text from a friend and ended up spending the night in the hospital and leaving for the airport at 4:30am. Slept like a baby on the plane and got home at 5:00pm Saturday. Then, had to leave on the 2:30 flight on Sunday to head over here for this week. To bad I don't have an assistant to help. Paris is really beautiful in the Spring and Fall, and I am sure my assistant would have had a great time. (Tim)

On a sad note, Linda I am sorry to hear about your Dad.  No matter how old we are, losing your parents always hurts and makes you feel like an orphan. I have to say that you and your Dad obviously had a great relationship and I appreciate all the work he did for all of us on the reunion!!

Andy

Andy, how 'bout an EMPTY one so we can fill it and bring back all our treasures?  Hope you had fun this trip.  I see that Linda Givney is now signed up and I hope she'll post some pics.

HEY Y'ALL....you've been kind of quiet here.  What you think about a 60th Birthday Bash????  That would be NEXT YEAR...you hear????  Throw out your ideas and concerns, ok?

I saw Dave Stowe last week and will probably go next week as I have something of his to return.  He's got such a positive outlook, it blows me away.  His computer is broke...I guess Jackie is having someone look at it for him.  What a doll you are, JS!  OK you guys, let's hear some chatter out there.  GEEZ, I sound like my dad with his Baseball Team...ha.  Oh..BTW, I've been chatting with Mike Metzinger.  Remember we couldn't find him at reunion time???  Well, he found ME.  Looks exactly the same as in high school....minus some hair.  SAME FACE.  It's been fun.

Those that missed our Happy Hour on Oct 1....we had a good time with those that showed up.  I have pics on my FB page and if anyone wants to see them let me know.  I'll post some here...if so.  Wish we could get MORE of us to things like that.  The reunion was so fun that it'd be great for at least the LOCALS to show up and visit.  After all....it's Free.

Stay COOL...Happy Halloween....Be SAFE!  XOXOX

I've been in Show Low AZ for the last two weeks visiting my daughter, Sarah, and her family. Our newest little addition was born Oct 3rd. Indigo Mary August Rogers was 6 lbs 14 oz, 19.5". With a full head of brown hair and blue eyes. She is adorable of course! She snoozes and eats, just like us, huh! Big sister Alistar is quite pleased with baby sister.  I'll have some pictures posted soon, here and on FB. I've been dreading this Sunday because I have to get back on the road and make the long drive (9 hrs) home. I really don't want to leave. I've enjoyed being here watching Alis and helping out wherever I can. The boys at home keep asking how many days till I get back, nice to know I'm missed by somebody! Hope all is well with everyone. Take care. kathie

 NOVEMBER BIRTHDAYS

ANDY ARMSTRONG - NOVEMBER 20TH; Thomas Moraitis - November 7th;  Kathy Goldsworthy - November 11th;  Doug Choma - November 17th;  Ric Mireles - November 24th;  Pam Markle - November 25th;  Tim Maxon - November 27th;  Joy Thorstenson - November 27th; Dan Danesi - November 28th; Rick shelton on November 28th...

Now..the question is ...where were you born?  What hospital.. There are a few classmates that were born at the same hospital on the same day...  Could you have been one of them?

If your birthday is not present here, it might be because you did not list it on your profile.  Who knows we might discover that Tim Maxon and Dan Danesi were twins that got split up on accident at the hospital???  Well, it happened to Arnold Schwartzineger and Danny DiVitto, yes?

Some assistant!!!! Chris, yes YOU may bring an empty suitcase for all of your treasures. Better yet, we will just buy you a couple of new suitcases as you need them!! I'm sure that at least YOU know that my birthday is Nov 20th. Any good assistant would know!! I'm sure Pam knows too!

Currently I am in Redmond WA working with Microsoft. I'm here this week and then next week I am home with no travel. Then we leave on another round the world trip. These really work out great, because you get a flat fee ticket that you can have as many stops as you want, so Chrissy, we go to Beijing, Thailand, Cambodia (Angkor Wat is great this time of year), then on to Turkey, London and Paris and then home. If there is some other place you want to get to, just let me know.

Andy

Chris Cummings (Noel)

Andy, with that many stops how long is your trip?  Do you stay put for Christmas?  This time around I really do want to see some FAMILY pics...or we may not believe there's anyone on these trips with you.

Nobody commented on my suggestion of a Happy60th Party for all of us next year.  WHAT SAY, REBELS?  This whole El Torito thing works real well.  We reserve a place and everyone fends for themselves.  It could be as easy as that.  We'd need plenty of notice so all our Idaho, Utah, Alabama, Illinois, MIssouri...etc, friends could choose to come.  Let me hear from you.  We could open it up to '68 and  '70 again.

Happy Halloween to all you creatures out there.  Be safe.

Chrissy,

I will be happy to post pictures but you should understand that I travel alone!! Noone goes with me. My wife and her boyfriend usually don't go with me. The 60th thing sounds great, but I agree that we need a lot of lead time to set up calendars.

Andy

Chris Cummings (Noel)

OK, Darryl....I got the nudge...as the YL resident.  I'd be happy to look into rates IF it's a GO.  And it doesn't have to be El Torito.  Some others may have some great suggestions of a place.  Somewhere where they'll LET GoGo dancers perform, although in Cathys' circle it'd probably be Belly Dancing.  Now THAT would be fun to watch!  And Acoustic Music....HELL YEAH.  Get you, Grant, Dennis E, Dave Graham....anyone else out there musically enclined?

ANDY....how nice of you to include your wife's boyfriend.  While you're away........how does the rest of that go?  JK.  Darrly thinks I've blown the gig with you.  I'm not the one that forgot your birthday...right????  :)  What's the deal with your Christmas schedule?  HEY....Picklers have an AWESOME view from their yard...maybe we could throw some "HINTS" their way.  PARTY AT PICKS.

NIte y'all......Chrissi

Andy Armstrong

Chris,

I NEVER work the two weeks before or the week after Christmas. We always make sure the shopping is finished and all plans done before the season starts. We live in New England, and often have a wonderful White Christmas. (Of course, on Dec 26th you can't wait for that god awful white stuff to go away!!!) We then celebrate Christmas at home as a family, there are tons of New England type Christmas things to do. Now that my daughters are both married, things have changed. Every other year we have "real" Christmas and the other year we have "faux" Christmas. That way my sons in law are able to spend every other Christmas with their own families in New Jersey or Connecticut. Faux Christmas is always the Saturday before the actual date and we have all the packages and foods and family for that weekend. Then, I take the boss (wife) and we go on a trip someplace in the world and see how other countries celebrate the holidays. This year is faux and I think we are either going to Florence, Italy (my favorite city) or London for a Charles Dickens type Christmas.

Now, to answer your other question, you are correct, YOU didn't leave me off the November Birthday list, so you are still one of my potential assistants. (Along with Pam and Tim).

Cathy, just kidding - you were the first to request the position!!

Hey, leaving on my next trip next week!! Any requests for anything????

Andy

You guys are not going to believe what I came across in my memory box this weekend. I am attaching the graduation notification for me from Dr. Peter Marshall for June, 1957. Go look at my pictures. It was great being one of the traveling gypsies going from school to school.

Oh Andy... That was awesome.  It musta felt funny reading something that OLD.... hee hee.... All my report cards are packed away but they say the same stuff.  Cathy is a wonderful student and she is so smart, if she just didn't talk so much....  Yea, and my poor dear mother... when she was on her death bed and I was holding her hand and crying... her last words were (as she smiled) Shut up Cathy....  So... do you think I would listen after almost 60 years?   I try, but I just cant.

Hey Guys,

Ne requests?? I have one from Chris but that is all!!! Let me know! I need addresses for post cards again. I grabbed a different computer for this trip and did not get the address info off of the other one. I am currently leaving Tokyo and heading to Bali for the weekend and then to India again. (Last time this year.) From there, i am on to London and then Paris before getting home for Turkey Day. I will take a rain check on those birthday drinks, as I will be in Paris for my birthday. But to be honest, renewing friendships with you all has been as great a birthday gift as I could hope for. So, keep doing posts to this site as that is how I get to live vicariously in  Southern Cal!!

Andy

Andy, what job do you have that requires all that travel? I love it! I travel as much as possible. Last year I was all over the US, Vietnam, Nepal twice, India and Sri Lanka. This year I hope to get back to Delhi, Mumbi, and Chennai for my nonprofit.

My baby girl (28) is going to Iraq on Nov. 29. This is her third deployment (army) and it is so hard on parents! I am not looking forward to the next year. Her house is in Nebraska and she has not been able to find anyone to stay in it for a year. You cant really leave a house empty in snow country for that long, so I am moving back to Nebraska to take care of it for her. I hope to see you all for the 60th birthday party next summer.

Sandy Ramsey
