Chris Cummings (Noel)

Ester, this is such a sad time for all of you.  I hurt for you and know this feeling.  Hospice was a Godsend to me, as well as many others I know.  The hardest part is surrendering our hold for our loved ones.  I hope he is soon out of all his pain and suffering.  I wish I could give you a big hug right now.  I love you, girl.  Be strong and say all the things you have yet to tell him.  God Bless you all.

Kathy and Chris... you guys soooo rock.  I can't wait to see who shows up this time... You neva know??????  If you can think of anyone in the world that you would love to reunite with...post it here...between all of us, I'm sure we can find them...  I still wonder what happened to Mike Thompson from Brookhurst JR high.  he was sooo cute.  I was driving home from Huntington yesterday, and there were millions of motor homes at this place called Mike Thompsons motor homes.  I mean...It's really big.  I hope that is him, because that would just say that his life has been good.  I pray it is.  I would love to see Rose Rapp....does anyone remember her?  She went to Brookhurst too.  I can't tell you how exciting it was to reunite with Ed Ferriera right at the time we turned 50.  It made it so much easier to ease into that age.  Where is he now?  Well, Texas..and I will be 60 in May.... OMG....60...  I still can't get over that.  I don't feel 60... do you?  Welp...see you all soon!  Can't wait.   Love ya's.

Oh, Ester, I am so sorry to hear this news about your husband. Sounds like he has been putting up a good fight and prayers are coming your way!

We just had a surprise also, my mom and dear friend had a massive stroke on April 4 (8 months to the day of my dad's passing) and was gone within 48 hours. Blessing was that she didn't suffer and she wanted to be with my dad for their 64th anniversary on April 16 and her prayers were answered.

God Bless you and your family!

Linda

OH NO, Linda....I'm so sorry to hear this.  And so soon after just losing your dad.  You must be heartbroken.  I've heard of lifelong spouses dying very close to their mates death almost as if they just want to be together again.  I feel your emptiness at having both parents gone.  So, so saddened for you and your family.  If there's anything I can do, let me know.

Linda, I remember your mom, sorry for your loss again,  but we both know that she is with the Father above Jesus..and your dad..that's what I keep telling my husband we'll see eachother again soon. Bill my husband is now on liquid morphine every two hours his poor struggling body is shutting down. I don't let him see me cry because we're so close and I don't want him to worry. I think God we have 5 children and 9 grandchildren who love us very much as we do love them also. The nurse came out today and told me that he may have only a few months if that.  I'll pray for your family Linda because it hurts and thats the truth, sad, yes and sad. May everyone remember the true reason for Easter, without hope we are nothing...blessings to you all dear friends..I thank God for family...and friends.

Crissy and Ester, you both are wonderful and I feel your hugs and support. Yes, it is amazing the way Mom was destined to go and she made it to heaven in time to be with my dad on their 64th wedding anniversary. So wonderful for them and yes, very sad for us, but WOW, what fantastic memories and how lucky we were to have them both for so long.

Ester, I am so glad for you and your family that you have the strong faith that you do. It will definitely help in the long run. I am so sorry that Bill is in pain through this process and how it is so hard for you and the kids.

I met someone on the plane when I was going to OKC to be with my mom before she passed and she said that when we are born, God gives us a round trip ticket to come back home to him and the reservation date has already been set. I found this very comforting.

Losing a loved one drives some important reminders home for me...

Don't ever go to sleep in a fight

Tell those you love them frequently

We never know our return reservation date and life is so very precious.

Love you all! Linda

Happy Easter!

Hey, Crissi, are you doing your thing (you are the best recruiter) to get classmates to commit to the 60th party? I see only 15 responded so far. Thanks to you and Kathy for finding this place for our event. Sounds like such fun!

Woo hoo! I'm off to Catalina for a few days for early celebration of 30 year anniversary. Can't wait to escape!

i haven't been here in a while, i've been pretty depressed lately... fb is good, but this is where we can listen, talk and be heard in private with our old friends and not share everything with the world... Ester, i didn't realize Bill was in hospice. such a difficult time for you and your family. i'm not a very religious person, church wise, but i believe in love and prayer... mine are with you all. much love too. Linda, i'm so sorry to hear about your mom. my love and prayers are with you too. i think of you all everyday and am looking forward to seeing everyone in July. hugs, kathie

Happy Anniversary, Linda.  Wow...Cindy Garwood is celebrating HER 30th, too!  Amazing!  Well ,I've reached out just a little regarding the 60th but plan to kick it into gear now that Easter is over.  Kathy just changed out the survey so everyone will SIGN IN...as we couldn't see who was committing.  Now we'll all be able to get excited.  Tell VEDA and SUE to get their butts on here :):)

Hope everyone had a joyous Easter.  I had a group here and cooked for 2 days.  Today I packed up all the decor and we're still trying to find the last 2 plastic eggs we all hid.  Put 203 out in my back yard and only 201 came back :(   OH WELL...at least they're not REAL eggs.  See you REAL SOON and looking soooo forward to it.  June 14th and 15th are OUR days, Linda :)

OK...I signed in to go the this Birthday party...  I saw all the names of those that are planning to attend and it makes my heart happy...I really hope we are able to reach out to a lot of folks that have missed the reunions and so we can reunite.  I'll be working on that until July and I hope you do the same.  If you have anyway of making contact, please do it now so they can make plans to attend.  Thank you all that have worked so diligently on putting this together...if it werent for your ambition and intuition, I don't think all this would be possible.  God bless you one and all..

Here is a good question for all my brothers and sisters of the "Hood"...  When you were in elementary and junior high... where did you most hang out?

My response:  We used to walk to the "little store"... over there by the Mazon's house.  It was really little...I wonder if it is still there?  It was beside the freeway off Brookhurst.  Oh Oh Oh and we used to go to Murry Manor and slide down the laundry shoot...

Chubby Burgers... jumped on the trampoline and had deep fried burritos..yum.

Walked to the mall...Walked to Knotts Berry Farm..Walked to the Brookhurst Theater

Hung out with Debbie Limback...Sue Galloway, Dusty Dalton, Pam Randall, Kathy Remic, Peggy Cooper, Robbie Mason, John and Lynn Anderson, Joy Thorstenson, Leilani Ahea, Darlene (she liked frog leggs)?, Shirley Ruff, Connie Hess, Mary Stone, Mary Stern, Clyde Holiday, Clancy Studley, Al Hammel, Mike Huson, Mike Thompson, Bill Calloway, Nobel Bomer, Sal Banks (he taught me to play drums), Ester Banks, Karin Trapp, Lisa Brown, Rose Rapp, Sandy Blanton, and some of the girls from the class of 68 that lived in the neighborhood. mostly cuz they would walk everywhere with me.  I hated having my folks take me anywhere.  I also hung out at Ed Ferriera's house cuz I babysat his brother.  they used to take us grunion hunting at the beach..and surfing all the time.  All the guys from the Barron's Band would go too and it was fun.  Debbie and I were the Go-Go girls in their band and we used to go to all their performances with them.

I was also a banner carrier at Brookhurst..I remember Chris Petricka was a banner carrier too.  Remember Chris?  I heard she lives in Riverside by the Van Buren Drive in... trouble is girls get married and have to "give up" their identity... Whats up with that??? Im glad I took mine back.  I wish I could find all the girls we grew up with, but unless they carry their maiden name...well...Its hard to find them. My mother made our uniforms.. Green and white.

Whats your memory?????

I found Ralph Mazon (someone I have wanted to reconnect with since Jr. High) and left him a message also... guys are really bad about checking their messages, but I am hoping to hear back from him ..  does anyone remember Ralph and Larry Mazon?

Happy Birthday to Alison Holt....  We are all getting 60... Keep it in mind when your big day comes around this year... join us at the 60th birthday... we have a lot to be thankful for and being able to share our lives is a miracle.  I don't know of any other school that has so many people that actually love and care about each other like we all do.  We have been blessed.

Thanks for the Birthday wishes Cathie.  I know Larry and Ralph Mazon. Janet dated Larry for quite sometime before she met Gene Felling.  Larry and Ralph spent time at my parents house and Ralph visited me at Sears when I worked in the Cerritos store.  I would love to touch base with them.

Yea... I seem to recall those days vividly...  They were a big part in all our lives.  I would love to touch bases with Ralph, but he posted and then does not check his messages...I don't know how much more I can do to get in contact...I even contacted people he knows...no success so far.  Men!

Cathy, I grew up on Geneva Street until 1962 and remember going to the "Lil Store" with great fondness. They had a great selection of little balsa wooden airplanes. It was a great adventure riding our bikes up there. I also loved the 5/10/15 cent ice cream cones at Thrifty Drug Store. (Good yoyo selection there as well!) I can still remember the smell of Magnolia Drug (Good for Mother's Day Powder gift) And finally, working at Colima's market for about 10 years always had a ton of great memories!!

I just came across this site after being gone for a while.  Didn't remember this forum being here then.  Time has flown by....  It sure would be fun to attend the reunion, but living in KS does have its drawbacks.  Not many though, I love the midwest.  I don't know where my highschool pic is to post...oh well.  It is fun to see the pictures from high school.  It helps to jog my memory cells!!
