I hear that Savanna is celebrating their 50th anniversary at Homecoming this year? Trying to figure out how - I though the school opened in 1963?!

I heard someone mention the 50th Anniversary but haven't seen anything in writing. Haven't heard of anyone that's going either. I think Sharon Engstrom-Pickler was the one who mentioned it. Could be fun. Let us all know if you go. IN THE MEANTIME many of us will be going to the El Torito Happy Hour for SHS grads the first Friday in Oct...that's OCT 7th. It's been an ongoing thing for 18 yrs, started by some grads from '65, '66. I've gone the past 2 yrs and plan on going again. On the side patio at the El Torito in the Savy Ranch Center. You can see it from the 91 frwy and Weir/YL Blvd. Starts around 4...everyone buys their own and mingles. No organization, no name tags, no money collected....just people coming and going. It's pretty cool. I heard from Cathy Engstrom, Debi Nelson, Jaime Hopkins, Marina Bueno, Missy Waite, Kathie Cox, Cindy Garwood...and those are just the NEW people coming that haven't before. Hey everyone, hope everyone is doing great! I talked to Dan Huntsinger '67 today. Told him about the El Torito night. He may show up, not sure.

Not much has changed for me. I'm doing much better walking around and will drive myself to the party! Peter is moving to an apartment. He got the keys last friday. Not a problem for me, except I still need a job so I can pay my rent... Something good will happen, I'm waiting for temptation to knock my door down (funny one Chrissi).

I also had a sister that graduated in 1963 - as part of the 1st graduating class; so I also questioned this 50th anniversary.

Apparently, the school was established in 1961, but didn't have a graduating class until 1963. I know my sister only went 1/2 days to Savanna when she first started. My oldest sister graduated from Western, since she was a senior in 1962.

I think someone over there at Savanna i using this "new math" to get this 50th anniversary thing in. I know my niece, who was Homecoming Queen in 2001 (I think), has been invited to attend the homecoming game 11/4.

I'm going to look into it more, and I'll let everyone know.

Bekkie, are you coming to the El Torito Happy Hour Fri nite??? Tell your sis about it, too. My Brother was the first ' complete' graduating class at SHS. They had to attend Magnolia the first part of the year. Dennis Cummings was his name. Anyway...maybe I'll see you Fri.

I have a great niece (my goddaughter) getting ready for her 1st Homecoming Dance (she goes to Mater Dei) on October 9th, so we're planning a "girly" evening on Friday. She's a sophmore, her date is a senior. . . .and suddenly I feel so old!

Also, I really can't drive too far in the evenings, and though it starts early, I'd have to be driving home in the dark.

For the 50th Anniversary, I'm going to be going with Sandra (Wells) Kinser - her grandson plays in the marching band; and I think a couple of other people are going to go with us.

I really have not heard a word about it other than Sharon Pickler said Scott got a call to attend and what you've written. Where is it advertised? Maybe on Classmates??? I'll check out the website you posted. I'll have pics to post here of the Happy Hour so you can feel almost like you were there :) BTW, did you take any pics of Original Mikes???

Soooooooo...Is anyone going to the Savanna Homecoming game on Friday November 4th at Glover Statium (La Palma Statium)...We are playing Magnolia High School! You need more information, you can call Mrs. Cruz at 714-220-4262 extension 202 for statium group seats. Don't let opportunities slip by you...This could turn out to be a blast! TRICK OR TREAT! I got a call from Chris Walthal yesterday...what a great surprise...he was out to lunch with Rick Whitley and Gary L....Got to talk to all of them...It is so special when I see our brothers and sisters getting together. There is nothing like it! I hope it keeps happening all around. So many are on facebook now..that I fear they are not checking with our website. I understand because Fb is like an all day thing anymore. But here is where we are...and we need to be faithful and add whats happening so that we can all grow old together. I will still love you when your old and gray.... will you still love me????

I'm going to the Homecoming game on Nov 4th - with a few alumni. Thought my sister (graduated in 1963) would be here to go (she lives in Texas) but her grandson is appearing in a school play, so she won't be here until afterwards.

Hope we get a good turnout for this. Should be fun

For halloween, we had a ton of kids - but then the Flower tract here in Buena Park always seems to get a ton of kids. Next year, my nephew is planning on building his haunted house again (he's done it for the past 4 years), he couldn't this year because his life fot a tad busier with their new baby!!

So, belated Happy halloween to all!
