I went to the Homecoming game - heard Tim's name announced. I was there with Sandra (Wells) Kinser, and Candy (Moore) Dooley met us there.
It was cold, but lots of fun. Savanna won 35-30 and was a great game. We had some cheerleaers from a different year there (I want to say 2004), who were louder than the current cheerleaders!! They had a realy good crowd, and quite a few students from other years were mentioned on the loudspeaker.
I almost went over and had each of my brothers and sisters announced, but they weren't there so I changed my mind! Didn't go by the el Torito that night, either before or after the game - Sandy's grandson is in the band and she had to be back to pick him up at the school.
The band is huge - I think she said almost 200 strong; I just don't like the pagentry part of it. Give me an old precision band and drill team. There was someone there from the class of 1978, who came out all the way from London, England to be there - talk about dedication!!
There were few from the class of 1963 (First we will always be), but they might have been like me and just not wanted my name announced!
Then, while we're watching the crowning of the Homecoming Queen and King (really? a king?!) - I discovered that friend of the family was the sophmore princess. Actually, she's a friend of my niece - the two played softball together. So that was fun. Would have been fun if they'd had more of the past Homecoming Queens there - I think there was only one other one.
It was great fun - actually the 2nd Savanna game I've gone to this year. . . .I guess the football players aren't too used to hearing cheering, 'cause when the "older" cheerleaders were cheering from the stands, the players kept looking back at them!
Didn't take any pictures - was going to but walked out of the house without the camera; but it was great fun, in spite of the cold.
